New-member orientation
Forty-five minutes on how the money actually moves: city budget, state budget, who decides what, and where parents can push. The most useful hour you’ll spend if you’re new.

Three hours at doors, subway stairs, and playgrounds, talking to neighbors about free child care and collecting names. First-timers go out with someone who’s done it.

Albany bus - budget season kickoff
We fill a bus with parents and kids and spend the day in legislators’ offices. Breakfast, lunch, and the ride are on us. This is the day that moves actual budget numbers.
