Rebecca Bailin

Executive Director

Rebecca is the founder and Executive Director of New Yorkers United for Child Care, with over a decade of experience leading transformative policy campaigns. She managed the Invest in Our New York campaign, securing billions for public programs through fair taxation, and spearheaded grassroots organizing at the Riders Alliance, achieving victories “Fair Fares” like NYC’s first discount MetroCard for low-income residents. Her government service includes roles at NYC Hall during the COVID-19 response and as Senior Advisor to State Senator Andrew Gounardes, where she helped secure billions for CUNY and advanced worker protections.

Allison Lew

Senior Organizer

Allison joined New Yorkers United for Child Care as a founding parent-leader in November 2023, and helped to secure funding for universal 3K, which has since had a transformative impact on her family. With over a decade of experience in public service, tech, and nonprofits, she has driven over $100,000 in economic impact for a women’s entrepreneurship community and co-founded a career fair for girls aged 8–12. In her free time, she enjoys exploring NYC’s food scene, visiting Prospect Park with her cow dog, and chasing after her energetic four-year-old.

Kellan Calder

Community Organizer

Asya is a communications strategist with nearly a decade of experience providing press and digital support for organizing campaigns, labor unions, and nonprofits. She has worked with Mijente, ACRE, United for Respect, the National Day Laborers Organizing Network, Housing Justice for All, and the NewsGuild of New York. In 2021, she led press strategy for the campaign to win the first-in-the nation Excluded Workers Fund, a $2.1 billion fund to provide undocumented workers with access to the safety net. Asya is a first-generation immigrant from Ukraine and is a proud longtime resident of Brooklyn.

Jesse Ryan

Operations Manager

Kellan Calder is a lifelong New Yorker , a mother of a toddler and teenager with extensive experience in the tech sector and deep roots in local political organizing. With a fierce commitment to her community, Kellan was an active volunteer leader with New Yorkers United for Child Care on the 2-Care campaign, helping to secure a $10 million pilot free child care program for children aged 0-2. In her free time she enjoys knitting. 

Asya Pikovsky

Communications Director

Jesse joined New Yorkers United for Child Care at the end of 2024 with nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit and education operations throughout the city. They have worked as an administrator and teacher at NY schools, managed the Breaking Barriers contest for Scholastic, and spent several years working with the HR and Finance departments at the Fund for the City of New York. Jesse was born and raised in NYC and understands the necessities of living in the city and is excited to help the mission and team.
